What a week for Forza fans and what a week for Forza HQ! We’ve got a fun edition of the Week in Review for you today, so let’s jump right in!

Forza 7 Gone Gold

Yesterday we broke news that Forza fans have been waiting to hear: Forza Motorsport 7 has officially gone gold! With that milestone crossed, we are one step closer to the launch of our biggest and best Forza game yet. Sure, that October 3 release date might still feel like a long way off but it will be here before you know it – and let’s not forget that Ultimate Edition owners have even less of a wait, with early access set to begin on September 29.

If even early access seems like too long a wait, have no fear. The Forza Motorsport 7 demo is nearly here! Alongside our Gone Gold announcement, we also released the first details on the demo, which will be arriving on September 19 on both Xbox One and Windows 10. With three unique driving experiences – the Porsche 911 GT2 RS on Dubai Circuit, the Mercedes-Benz Tankpool Racing Truck on Mugello and the Nissan NISMO GT-R LM on Nürburgring GP – the demo is a fantastic introduction the breadth and power of Forza Motorsport 7. If you’re playing on PC, we’ll also have performance sliders where you can tailor the experience to fit the rig you’re running on, too. Look for the demo on the 19th and of course our debut livestream on Mixer and Twitch, which will go live as soon as the demo is live!

In Thursday’s announcement, we also showcased the new Forza Motorsport 7 TV commercial, which you can check out a bit later in today’s story. Before we get there, however, let’s talk about our new Ford GT.

Ford GT – Delivery Day

Everyone here at Turn 10 has been eagerly awaiting the day but no one more so than our own fearless leader, Turn 10 studio manager Alan Hartman. On Tuesday of this week, Alan’s Ford GT Heritage Edition arrived at Forza HQ, the culmination of a nine-month journey that began back in January. You might remember back then we unveiled the first video in our ongoing series, bringing viewers behind the curtain into the process of ordering and building Ford Performance’s latest masterpiece. In the series, we also documented the ordering process, and even took a trip to the Multimatic production facility where the Ford GT is assembled.

Which brings us to Tuesday morning, where the skies were dark and gloomy thanks to some wildfires burning in the state that has left western Washington covered in smoke and even ash. No matter; even dodgy conditions couldn’t dampen the palpable sense of excitement that we all felt as the delivery truck backed its way towards Turn 10’s front doors and the Ford GT was expertly (if slowly) unloaded off the truck bed.

Once fully unloaded, Alan was treated to a thorough introduction to his new Heritage Edition Ford GT; everything from how to start the car to how to work the instrument panel to how to unlock the car should you lose the key fob was covered in minute detail. After the feature breakdown, Alan did the only logical thing: he drove it! It was an all-too-brief brief journey around town, before he backed it into the Turn 10 front lobby, where the GT took its rightful place alongside its lobby-mates, the McLaren P1 and the Le Mans-winning Porsche 919.

Now that the Ford GT is here, there’s still more story to tell. Alan will be getting the car wrapped next week and is hoping to get at least one good track day with the car before the Seattle rains kick in. You can expect to see that in the next video in our series, coming (hopefully) soon.

For more on the Ford GT’s delivery, including some great photos of the car in its new home (like below), check out this week’s edition of Heavy Metal Affliction.

Musical Cars

What happens when you take the kid’s game “musical chairs” and replace the seating with several million dollars worth of awesome cars? That’s the premise behind “Musical Cars,” the official Forza Motorsport 7 TV commercial which we unveiled this week alongside our Gone Gold announcement. In the commercial, Ken Block, Adam Carolla, and a group of gamers compete to get the best ride. What happens when the music stops? There’s only one way to find out:

Welcome Evan Bolin

I’d like to take a moment to introduce a new member of the team to the Forza Community. Recently Evan Bolin joined the team as Community Liaison and he’ll be working on the support side, focusing on Forza Motorsport 7. You’ll be seeing Evan (Gamertag: SOY) in the Forza Forums and online, so be sure and say hi and make him feel welcome.

Here’s a little bit more from Evan himself:

Hello and nice to meet everyone! My name is Evan and I’m excited to join Turn 10 and work with such an amazing community. In case you want to know about me, here’s quick summary about myself. I’ve been working in the video game industry for a little over 5 years over at Xbox. I fell in love with gaming after I first played Ghostbusters on my dad’s Commodore 64. During my free time, you can find me at a baseball game, watching UFC fights or online grinding Xbox achievements. My Gamertag is SOY so feel free to add me.

Lastly, my first car was a 1995 Acura Integra, I currently drive an Acura ILX and some of my favorite cars are the Ferrari 458 Italia, Nissan GT-R, and, you guessed it, the Acura NSX.

I look forward to meeting all of you in the future and I’ll see you on the track.

Supercar Challenge

Aussie Forza fans, the competition is about to heat up. Starting this week, Australian-resident Forza 6 players over the age of 18 can begin qualifying for the Harvey Norman Supercars Forza Challenge. We’ve got three Rivals events live now in Forza Motorsport 6 where the qualification is taking place – simply choose one and set your best time in an Aussie supercar on Bathurst. Qualification ends on September 17 (you’ll need to register here in order to be eligible). The eight fastest registered and eligible winners will then be flown from their nearest capital city (within Australia) to Sydney and transferred to Mount Panorama Bathurst for a five-day experience and to compete in the Harvey Norman Supercars Forza Challenge finals, a ten-race tournament that will be held in Forza Motorsport 7 alongside the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in October.

Good luck to all the participants out there!

#Forzathon – Heel-Toe Shifting

This weekend’s #Forzthon events in Forza Horizon 3 – dubbed “Heel-Toe Shifting” – have a definite sideways feel to them. Hoon it up in a Japanese car to bring home some wheelspins, credits, and XP or complete a championship in a Nissan to take home a prize that practically any drifter can love: the Nissan S15 Horizon Edition. Check it out:

Sounders + Forza 7

Our Major League Soccer team – the Seattle Sounders – will be taking the pitch against rival Los Angeles Galaxy this weekend, and wearing Forza-themed kit when they do. Check out the jerseys over at the Sounders’ official site; and if you’re planning on attending the game in person, you can you’ll be able to purchase a Sounders jersey and have the Forza Motorsport 7 logo embellished on the front, just like the team.
