Forza Motorsport Week in Review 8-28-15

Friday, August 28, 2015

The announcement that we’ve all been waiting for has arrived: Forza Motorsport 6 has gone gold and will soon be in the hands (or on the Xbox One consoles) of Forza fans all over the world! On Thursday, we released the news, along with a bunch of other goodies, including our full 460-car strong car list, a ton of new screens of different tracks in the game. Oh yes, and the fact that THE FORZA 6 DEMO IS COMING ON TUESDAY!

Sorry, I’ll calm down.

Anyway, yes, on Tuesday, Sept. 1 the Forza Motorsport 6 demo will be available, giving fans their first taste of the game ahead of its Sept. 15 release. Look for more details on the demo on Tuesday, which will include a new contest that I think Forza fans are going to enjoy. Naturally, we’ll be livestreaming the Forza 6 demo as soon as its available on our Twitch channel so don’t miss it!

In the meantime, here’s a picture of a bunch of cars:

That is a picture of the 460 cars available in the standard edition of Forza Motorsport 6. This week we completed our Forza Garage reveals, shining the spotlight on V8 Supercars, brand new cars like the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S, and more. In short, if you love cars, Forza 6 is where you need to be.

And it doesn’t end there. Forza Motorsport 6 will feature 26 amazing race tracks; this week we took a look at which tracks in the game will feature night and/or wet conditions. From turning laps at a soaking wet Top Gear track to running under the Yas Marina hotel lit up like a neon wonderland, rain and night racing promise brand new challenges in Forza 6 unlike anything you’ve seen before. Check out the full Gone Gold story to the full car and track list.

Now let’s turn our attention to a Forza 6 feature that a lot of Forza fans care about: livery import.

Circuit Spa-Francorchamps is one of the many circuits featuring night racing in Forza 6.

Silverstone is tough in great conditions – in the rain, it becomes a massive test for drivers.

Livery Import Details

As most of you know, Forza Motorsport 6 will let painters and tuners import their creations from Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Horizon 2 into the game, giving them a great head start on sharing their work with the community as soon as the game launches. Here, I want to go into a bit more detail about how the import process work, as well as let you know about some caveats to be aware of when bringing your work over into Forza 6.

Importing your tunes and paints into Forza 6 is a simple process. When you check out the “My Paint” menu from the Forza 6 main menu, you will have the choice to synch your original creations from both Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Horizon 2. Once the synch happens, you can then individually import files to Forza 6 with a click of the button. Please note that the initial synch can take some time, especially if have a lot of creations in FH2 and FM5.

The process for bringing whole car designs over is similar. To import your complete car designs, go to the “Paint Car” menu item and then select “My Designs.” From there you’ll be able to import your original creations from Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 5 by clicking on the design and importing it. When you import a design file, you can choose to give it a description and share it immediately as you can with designs you create in Forza 6. In addition, your creation will be unlocked and you can continue to make changes on your cars as you see fit.

While the vast majority of designs should transfer over with no issues, I wanted to make sure that the community was aware of some exceptions to this rule. Liveries from Forza Motorsport 5 or Forza Horizon 2 that include certain manufacturer decals will be prevented from being imported into Forza Motorsport 6. I’ve outlined the list of decals in each game below:

Forza Horizon 2 Decals

Local Motors

Forza Horizon

Forza Horizon 2

Playground Games

Horizon Festival

Horizon Bass Arena Radio

Horizon Pulse Radio

Horizon XS Radio

Levante FM Radio

Robby Gordon

Forza Motorsport 5 Decals

Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels (reverse)

Savage Rivale

Local Motors

Robby Gordon

Auto Union

For example, if you have a Forza Horizon 2 livery that features the “Levante FM Radio” decal, you will not be able to import that file into Forza Motorsport 6. That said, you can still go back and make adjustments to liveries in FH2 or FM5, to make them eligible for import into FM6. Also, please note that many of the above logos can still be found in Forza Motorsport 6 (such as the Hot Wheels logos, for example); for technical reasons, however, they cannot be imported over.

Lime Rock’s close confines will bring a new character to 24-car races.

Forza 5 Marathon Charity Race

As we near the release of Forza Motorsport 6, a group of Forza community members are preparing to send Forza Motorsport 5 off in style with an upcoming 24-hour charity race benefitting Cancer Research UK. Here are the details:

In Preparation for Forza Motorsport 6, Stella Stig, Cornwolf @ TURN (theultimateracingnetwork) are joining together for a 24HR endurance race round Spa Franchorchamps to raise money for Cancer Research UK via the M.A.D (Make A Difference) Just Giving page.

We can already hear you smashing your keyboard demanding we get to details, so we’ll dive right into it. Spa Francorchamps will play host to this send-off event, and that can mean only one thing…the glorious roar of GT cars. Entries will include the BMW M3 GT2, Ferrari 458 Italia GT, SRT Viper GTS, and the Corvette ZR1 GT. The race will take place on September 5th starting at 15:00 BST (10 AM EST) and finish on September 6th at 15:00 BST (10 AM EST).

We are proud to announce that TURN will bring you a final endurance race to wave farewell to Forza Motorsport 5. This is not just any endurance race, TURN be joining forces with Corn Wolf and Stella Stigs‘s website ("The Storefront", a Forza Motorsport oriented website dedicated to showcasing the very best work in liveries, builds, and tunes) to host this as a charity event for cancer research.

Full details can be found regarding the specific rules, regulations, builds, and procedures here:

Courtesy of "The Storefront", all the liveries will be provided for this race by some of Forzas finest painters. Entries will be assigned a painter once they are accepted into the event. The assigned painter from The Storefront will work with each entry to ensure that the livery meets the needs of the team and the event.

We hope to see you all on track and those not able to race come along and join us on twitch.

The group will be livestreaming the event, and you’ll be able to follow along at the official TURN Twitch page. Please consider donating to the event and watching live beginning on September 5!

We’re kicking off another edition of #ForzaFriday today beginning at 3 p.m. By my count, this will be the third-to-last #ForzaFriday episode featuring Forza Motorsport 5, as we’ll be kicking off our first Forza 6 #ForzaFriday broadcast on Sept. 11! Until then, come hang out with us on our official Twitch channel as we continue to log miles in Forza 5. Be there!
