Forza Motorsport Week in Review 7-1-16

Brian Ekberg
Friday, July 1, 2016

In today’s edition of the Week in Review, we’re recognizing some winners of recent contests then looking ahead to a weekend full of competition where a new winner will be crowned. Short and sweet and chock full of action. Let’s do it!

Formula E Race Off Finals

This weekend, nine of the best virtual racers in the world will converge on London’s Battersea Park to compete in the FIA Formula E Race Off Pro Series Championship finals in Forza Motorsport 6. Running alongside with Formula E’s real-world Visa London ePrix season finale on July 3, the Race Off Pro Series will see competitors racing online for a €15,000 prize fund, one of the largest Forza eSports prize pools to date.

Fans will be able to watch the race live on the Formula E/ESL channel beginning at 9 a.m. London time (1 a.m. Pacific) on both Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3.

As a setup to this competition, earlier this year in March, Forza Motorsport 6 fans from around the world competed to qualify for the Race Off Pro Series finals by participating in a collection of special Rivals qualifying events and live online semi-final races. The nine competitors in the Race Off Pro Series Championship finals will include winners from each of the semi-final events and are among the most skilled virtual racers in the world. Here’s the line-up of competitors expected to take part in Saturday’s race:

Aurélien "TX3 Laige" Mallet

Robin "BAM bOx" Betka

Fabien "BAM Seven" Piffet

Christian "GTz Chriz" Popp

Chris "JSR Craviator" Farkas

Philippe "TX3 YggDrasil" Vaillant

Ross "JSR Rossi" May

Alexandre "BAM ASIX13" Arnou

Niklas "aTTaX Johnson" Krellenberg

The Race Off Pro Series Championship finals are presented by VISA and in partnership with ESL, and will also be aired on the official Formula E YouTube channel and on television in the UK via GINX eSports TV. Fans can also keep track of the action by following the official Forza Motorsport and Formula E Twitter accounts and by using the hashtag #RaceOffPro. Don’t miss it!

Chryslus Contest Winners

Over the past few weeks, E3 and Le Mans planning got in the way of our promised Chryslus Rocket contests, but this week we made good on that promise to hold special contests around the Fallout car that we released a while back in Forza Motorsport 6. You can see the fruit of those contests peppered in today’s edition of the Week in Review. With exclusive bonus cars as the reward, photographers and painters came up big this week, with some truly fantastic results. Congrats to all the winners below who should be watching their Forza 6 message center inboxes look for the reward cars of their choice coming soon!

Stuzib85’s FH3 Lambo

A special shout-out to PTG Stuzib85, who made social media waves this week with the launch of his special Forza Horizon 3-themed Lamborghini Huracán paint, which is now available for download in Forza Motorsport 6. It’s a stunning piece of design from one of the most talented painters in the Forza Community and it’s well worth adding to your collection. Nice job stu!

July Car Pack Update

For fans wondering if we will have new cars in July for Forza Motorsport 6, the answer is a resounding YES. The next DLC car pack for Forza 6 will arrive on Tuesday, July 12. I’d love to spill the beans on each of the cars in the pack, but I enjoy my job, so I won’t do that. Instead I’ll say this: Prepare to drive something you’ve never driven before in a Forza game. Ooohhh, the mystery! July 12. Get hyped.

And with that we come to the end of another edition of the Week in Review. Tune in for our weekly #ForzaFriday show on Twitch, where I’ll be hanging out with Forza fans, racing as much as possible, and showing off the July VIP car (which doubles as the June VIP car, if you’re keeping score). It being this close to the Fourth of July here in the States, you might be able to guess the theme, but Robin has once again knocked it out of the park. See you on our Twitch channel beginning at 3 p.m. Pacific!
