Friday, May 26, 2017

The new Forza Racing Championship Web site is live! Launched last Friday (after the Week in Review went live), the new ForzaRC site is your home for everything that’s happening in the premier esports racing series in the world. Head over to the site to keep up with the latest news and videos from previous weeks of the ForzaRC, and look for more great stuff in the weeks ahead as we lead up to our Season 3 finals at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Before we jump into the Week in Review properly, I wanted to give a shout to Josef Newgarden, who will be competing in this weekend’s Indianapolis 500 race. If you follow our official Twitter account, you probably saw Newgarden posting all day today from Carb Day at IMS, which is famously the final practice day for the drivers before the big race. If you missed Josef’s behind-the-scenes Tweets, including an awesome shot of him behind the wheel of his Team Penske IndyCar, go check them out now.

ForzaRC Recap

Week 4 of the Forza Racing Championship is here and, with it, comes the final opportunities for players to qualify for the Le Mans finals. If you missed the action from Week 3, check out Alie Tacq’s recap of the on-track action from last Sunday’s Week 3 Race qualifiers, where he breaks down the rivalry between BAM Anto and Johnson, and shines the spotlight on one of the privateers making a name for himself in the ForzaRC with Paul9339. How will Paul and the rest of our racers fare in the final Sunday Race events? Here’s Alie himself for some reflection on the past week’s action and a look ahead at Sunday.

Week 3 Recap

With June fast approaching the world of motorsport turns its attention toward the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans, a day-long endurance race through the heart of rural France. Already tweets and updates show teams in transit, fans in preparation and drivers making good use of their last weeks of training.

The #68 Ford GT-LM ready to be loaded onto its flight to Le Mans

Nerds like me can’t help but get carried along by the excitement surrounding this iconic race. But this year of course, there’s just a little more to it. In just two weeks time The 24 Hours of Le Mans will play host to this season’s Forza Racing Championship Season 3 Grand Final.

With the fourth and final week of competition across Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 6 almost at an end, how do we stand? Who will be bringing home the prizes, and who will be taking the competition all the way to this incredible offline event? Let’s take a look.

A Three-way Tie at The Three Bridge Circuit

The Recreational Series has taken drivers to all the corners of Forza Horizon 3’s open world map. The ongoing fourth challenge is sending drivers echoing through the high-rises of Cross City Sprint in the incredible V10 2003 Porsche Carrera GT.

Across the first three rounds of the competition one name has returned time and again, JSR Rayzer JDM. If he can continue this winning streak through the final challenge, Rayzer JDM will have a not only slew of brilliant prizes but, surely, will hold the record as the winningest driver of FH3.

But three drivers, with literally nothing between them, have been jockeying for the role of best challenger. At last week’s event around the Three Bridge Circuit, SPGP hectorST, FcT Jimka and Assassin KhaZix all post times of 0:55.756. An astonishing turn of events and a well deserved three-way tie for some brilliant racers.

If you want to test yourself against Rayzer JDM (or see if you can make it a four-way tie for second) there is still time. Simply register your Gamertag at and head on over to the ForzaRC rivals challenge on Forza Horizon 3.

Elite Series Rivals Reach Their Final Act

The ForzaRC Season 3 Elite Series offers competitors a direct route to the offline Grand Final. With the top 50 drivers from the Rivals Route qualifying for Le Mans and the top 20 of these having their flights paid for, the lap times at the pinnacle of the challenge have been extraordinarily fast.

Even now, and regardless of the results of the final round, eight drivers have gained themselves points advantages that will already see them amongst that top 20. All are brilliant competitors and familiar faces at the ForzaRC: CAR Laige, CAR Lightning, CAR bbb0x, F4H Venom, CAR Daveyskills, CAR Amarth, TX3 Commando and BAM ASIX13 (In order of points).

But with 500 points still available for victory in Week 4, those in the lower reaches of the top 50 are anything but safe. With nine drivers tied on 500 points at the bottom of this stack and countless racers waiting in the wings, an opportunity certainly remains for somebody to upset the order.

If you’ve already scored some points in the Elite Cup Series haven’t been able to attend every week, there is still time for you to take your challenge all the way to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Head over to Rivals in the Porsche section of Forza Motorsport 6 and throw down your best time in the #19 Porsche Team 919 Hybrid around Nürburgring GP.

Lastly, with the Elite Cup wrapping up this week, be sure to tune in on Sunday at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. BST or 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT for the last rounds of the Elite Cup Racing Route. Here an absolutely electric grid of racers will be doing battle for 50 more qualifying places at the Forza Racing Championship’s Grand Final at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As always the action will be broadcast on our official Twitch and Mixer channels, so don’t miss it! In addition the newly launched Channel One on Mixer will feature a full day of Forza Racing Championship action, including the European Qualifiers at 7 a.m., the North American Qualifiers at 1 p.m. and, in between, a replay of the ForzaRC New York Invitational. Don’t miss it!

#Forzathon – At the Crossroads

Two #Forzathon events in a week! In the words of Maui from Moana: “You’re welcome!” Earlier this week, we gave players the chance to win the Huracàn Horizon Edition by completing what was admittedly a very tough challenge – nailing three stars at the Airport Danger Sign while driving a not necessarily airworthy Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG. Now, here we are with the weekend ahead of us, and a brand new crop of challenges ahead. Take a look:

Yep that’s a 911 Turbo S that you can own just for getting three stars in Speed Zone while driving an Extreme Track Toy. [NOTE: We are aware with an issue with the “Forced Induction” #Forzathon event, where certain Extreme Track Toy cars are not triggering the event as expected. The list of affected cars include the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, Ferrari 599XX, #7 M-Sport Bentley Continental GT3, #17 Xbox Racing Ford Falcon FG X, F-TYPE Project 7 Horizon Edition, and the F-TYPE Project 7 Preorder Car. Other Extreme Track Toy models should work as expected with this event].

In addition, we’ve got more XP, credits and wheelspins on the line. So what are you waiting for? Let’s go get some free stuff!

Hot Wheels/Blizzard Mountain Issues Update

An update on the issue where PC players are not able to play or travel to Blizzard Mountain since the release of the Hot Wheels update. The good news our friends at the Xbox Store have a fix on the way for this issue, although we don’t currently have an ETA for when it will be released. While we have some known workarounds that can help, this fix should solve the issue for players and won’t require an extra download. Once the fix is released, we’ll update this story with the news. [UPDATE 5/26, 5:18 p.m. PDT: This fix has been issued from the Xbox Store and players should no longer be running into this issue. Thank you for your patience!”"]

If it’s 3 p.m. on a Friday it must mean it’s time for #ForzaFriday, our weekly Friday gameplay session livestreamed on Twitch and Be… no wait, Mixer! That’s right, we’ll be doing our first Forza stream since the re-launch of the Microsoft-owned streaming service formerly known as Beam. Come on over and see what all the fuss is with Mixer – my gut says we’ll be doing a Mixer-only giveaway or two to celebrate the launch – while we spend a few hours hanging out and playing Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 6. Whether you’re racing or watching, we’d love to see you there!
