I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like the launch of Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that we were launching a brand new game, based on the all the hype and excitement around the latest FH3 expansion. After all, it isn’t often that we take to a remote location to launch an expansion – as we did this week for the livestream debut of the Hot Wheels expansion. Check out the highlights:

If you missed the show, or want to experience the whole thing again, head on over to our YouTube channel for the full replay. The show originated from Hot Wheels headquarters in El Segundo, CA, and our set was actually in the Hot Wheels Garage, where legendary vehicles like the Rip Rod, the Boneshaker, and the Twin Mill are housed when they aren’t touring the world for promotional events. Seeing cars like that in person, along with the 2005 Hot Wheels Mustang (all of which are playable in the Hot Wheels expansion), was a once in a lifetime experience and one that I won’t soon forget.

But how about that expansion itself? Based on the critical and community reception so far, I’d say you guys are loving Hot Wheels as much as we are. For me, as fun as the events are, I still haven’t tired of simply hopping in the vehicle of my choice and attacking those iconic orange tracks, just to see what will happen. Taking loops in cockpit view and feeling those rollercoaster vibes, trying to nail tricks in the halfpipe, find out exactly how fast I can go up the spirals around the volcano. For me, it’s less about racing, and more about playing. That’s the magic of Hot Wheels and I think the Playground Games folks captured that magic in all its glory.

ForzaRC Updates

We’re now in the second week of Forza Racing Championship Season 3, and there has been some major news coming out of the first week in the form of new format changes. You can get the full recap in this week’s edition of Rear View Mirror but here’s the important bits:

Starting with Week 2 (this week), there will be one event per week, open from Thursday to Saturday. The top 1000 leaderboard times earn points for each event, and the top 50 worldwide season points leaders, will earn an invite to The Porsche Cup.

In the Race path, drivers will now qualify for Sunday events with a Monday-Wednesday Rivals event. The top 24 leaderboard times from each region will enter the Sunday tournament, and the top six drivers from two semi-final groups will move into the Sunday finals races. Fifty of the season's Race points leaders (divided by Region) will earn an invite to The Porsche Cup.

Remember that to earn points, you need to Sign Up at ForzaRC.gfinity.net and link your Xbox Live Gamertag in your profile. And as always, make sure to follow the Forza Racing Championship (@ForzaRC) to stay up to date with all of the latest.

So, with those new format changes in mind, you hot-lappers have your assignment. This week’s Rivals qualifier features the Porsche 911 GT2 RS on Brands Hatch GP. The event is open until Saturday, so get your best times in before things shut down.

Look for the next round of qualifying races this Sunday starting at 7 a.m. Pacific (European region) and 1 p.m. Pacific (North American region). You’ll find them on the official Beam and Twitch channels.

Also, don’t forget the Recreation Series, which is happening right now in Forza Horizon 3! Week 2 features 1987 Porsche 959 tackling East Suburbs Circuit. There’s great prizes on the line for the top players each week so, even if you’re not interested in competing in the Elite Series, make sure you’re registered at GFinity and try your hand at the Rec Series.

Rally Car Fun

Last week in Heavy Metal Affliction, we featured the 1995 Subaru Impreza of Turn 10’s own Phil Bergman. The car was built to help Bergman fulfill his rally racing dreams and it apparently inspired at least one Forza Horizon 3 player. Community member RallyzX360 recreated the livery of Phil’s rally Impreza in Forza Horizon 3 to exact detail. Check it out:

You can check out more photos of RallyzX360’s interpretation of Phil’s rally car in our weekly livery contest thread on the Forza Forums.

#Forzathon

Time for a new set of #Forzathon challenges in Forza Horizon 3 this weekend. Here’s a look at this weekend’s events, including a chance to take home a new Porsche 911 GT2 RS:

#ForzaFriday

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been behind the desk of a #ForzaFriday broadcast and I’m very much looking forward to our show today. Not only will be spending some quality time on the highways and byways (and loops and half-pipes) of the Hot Wheels expansion, but I’ve got my eyes set on that ForzaRC Elite Series Rivals event. Of course I doubt I’ll be setting times of any merit, but it never hurts to dream! In addition, I’ll be showing off not one but TWO Hot Wheels Bucket List challenges and, of course, hanging out with all of you. Tune in at 3 p.m. Pacific on Beam and Twitch and get ready for the weekend with us!

Finally this week, congratulations go out to Alex Plunkett aka TheDefusion on Beam who was our grand prize winner from our Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels livestream! He’ll be taking home that incredible courtesy of Hot Wheels.
