Forza Week in Review 3-3-17
Turn 10 welcomed a special guest to the studio this week. Rally driver, automotive legend, and Gymkhana master Ken Block made his first visit to the halls of Forza this week. You might remember Block made his last appearance with Forza at our Forza Horizon 3 Launch Event at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles where he joined us to share stories from his career while diving deep into the Outback in FH3. This week, Block dropped by to once again revisit Forza Horizon 3 and to get some seat time in a car he knows quite well: his own Ford Focus RS RX, which is the “hero” car of the Blizzard Mountain expansion. After a tour of Turn 10 and introductions to the team, Block sat down with developers to give feedback on the feel of his car in the game, while driving in our ridiculously awesome triple-screen race seat setup.
After the driving session, Ken was nice enough to hang out, sign autographs, and take photos with his many fans around the studio. Thanks to Ken and his crew visiting and we hope to see you again soon!
Now, on with the Week in Review!
Last week I called March perhaps the best #Forzathon month in Forza Horizon 3 history, and now you know why! Earlier this week, we had a special one-day-only event, with a Subaru rally car up for grabs and, starting today, there’s not one but TWO awesome Horizon Edition cars available to pick up. Here you go:
What else needs to be said but BOOM!? Not only can you grab a legendary Jaguar supercar in the XJ220 Horizon Edition, we’ve also got a Mercedes A45 AMG Horizon Edition up for grabs. As if that’s not enough we’ve also got XP and Wheelspins available as well. As always, you’ve got until Monday to complete these challenges and grab your rewards. I’ll be making my attempt at least a couple of these #Forzathon challenges in today’s #ForzaFriday livestream starting at 3 p.m.
March DLC Clue Thread
The next car pack for Forza Horizon 3 arrives on Tuesday and we’ll have the announcement of the cars on Monday here on FM.net and Forza Hub. In the meantime, why not spend a few minutes racking your brain with our latest DLC Clue Thread? Johniwanna has once again gone to impractical lengths to fashion these mysterious clues designed as much to entertain as much as they are to confound. Think you’re up to the task? Feeling lucky? Take a look at the March DLC Clue thread in the Forza Forums, and give them your best shot!
Heavy Metal Affliction
This week HMA tells three short stories from Argentina. The cars are different but their owners love for them is not. So if you have ever wondered what the car lovers from the southernmost tip of the South American continent drive, now is you chance to get a glimpse.
That about wraps up another edition of the Week in Review. I’m looking forward to hopping on Beam and Twitch today and spending a couple of hours with Forza fans in both Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 6. In Horizon 3, we’ll be hitting the #Forzathon events hard, as well as a brand-new Bucket List Challenge created by our resident design mad scientist JC. Then, we’ll be hitting some multiclass racing in Forza Motorsport 6 and ending with our Random (Nürburg)Ring Race starring, as always, a new random car in stock form that everyone in the room will be racing as well. I’ve got an idea for a new qualifying format for the RRR (or the Triple R, as I like to call it) that I want to experiment with today, which will use features from our recent eSports update for Forza Motorsport 6. Feel like being a guinea pig in my research? Join us for the fun at 3 p.m. Pacific! See you then!
