Forza Motorsport Week in Review 11-9-12

Alex Kierstein
Friday, November 9, 2012

Hi folks, it’s Alex here sitting in for Brian for this latest Week in Review. While it’s hard to believe that Forza Horizon is more than two weeks old, it’s not hard at all to see how busy things have been around the studio.

One of the things we’ve been rushing to serve up to you all is the November Bondurant Car Pack, which is now available for download! We’ve already told you a little about all six of the cars in the pack, from the outrageous 2012 Shelby 1000 to the drift legend 1994 Nissan 240SX. But in case you missed out, the other pack cars are the 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante, 2010 BMW M3 GTS, and the 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C – plus this pack’s free car, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Look for an FYI About DLC article next Wednesday, too.

You don’t need to be a mathematician to see that there’s a wide variety of tire-melting power in this pack, so pick it up. It’s 400 MS Points, or if you have a Forza Horizon Season Pass, it’s available for you to download at no additional cost. And don’t forget, the trail-rated Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is your sample car, so be sure to download it and try it out before you buy the pack.

Loyalty Cars and Achievements
Before we continue with the rest of the Week in Review, I wanted to catch you up on an important update regarding the loyalty car/achievement issue that many Forza Horizon players have run into since the game’s launch. We have identified the cause of this bug and will address it in the next title update for Forza Horizon, which will arrive to coincide with the December 18 launch of the Forza Horizon Rally Expansion Pack. We’ll have additional details on the upcoming title update in the coming weeks. Until then, thanks for everyone’s continued patience!

Game with Devs
Thanks to everyone who showed up for the Game with Devs event this past Wednesday. As always, the turnout was great, although we know you all show up for our excellent and witty company and not just for the chance at a coveted unicorn car … right? In any event, we had a blast and we appreciate everyone who was patient while waiting to get into the lobbies. Didn’t get a chance to get into one of our lobbies this time? We’re going to have another Game with Devs night soon – Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. PST. Check out the Community Events forum soon for more details, and visit the Community Page on for more about all our upcoming events.

Autoweek Adventure Recap
In case you missed it, yours truly got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live out some Forza Horizon fantasies on the real-life open roads of Colorado in a 2012 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Black Series coupe for a week. Between various challenges like white-water kayaking in freezing water or racing R/C trucks, my co-driver Davey G. Johnson of Autoweek and I spend some quality seat time blasting through some of the most beautiful countryside I’ve ever seen in a truly incredible car that you might recognize from Forza Motorport 4 and Forza Horizon. The first part of the adventure can be found here; and don’t miss part two, coming soon, about the car and the various misadventures that we had. It turns out the AMG isn’t the best choice for off-roading! Read more about that soon. And feel free to ask me about the trip over in this Alex’s American Adventure thread.

Halo Car
We live and breathe Forza, but we can’t help but be excited about Halo 4, which was released this week to some epic fanfare. We love the guys over at 343 Industries, and to celebrate the release of the latest Halo title we’ve got a very special VIP car coming your way next week! If you’re a Forza Horizon VIP, check your inbox, and enjoy the car!

Message Center Challenge
There are some things – ok, lots of things – that you might not want to do in real life, but you’ll be rewarded for doing in Forza Horizon. Wrecking signs, pulling off amazing j-turns, unsanctioned street races, and perhaps most rewarding of all, flooring it past speed cameras. Check your Message Center while playing Forza Horizon and keep an eye out for a special challenge. When you get the message, head over to Twitter, answer the challenge question, and include the special hashtag in the message for your chance to win a prize. You’ll have to read the message to find out what the hashtag is!

Here’s a tip: the quickest way to find our Message Center Challenges (as well as other important messages from the Forza Community Team) is to head over to the “News Feed” section of Message Center by hitting the RB button twice.

Bondurant Challenge and October Rivals Runner Results
Are you competing in the Bondurant Challenge? Interested in knowing how you stack up to the competition? This week’s leaderboards are updated and on the forums, so head on over to the Community Events Bondurant Challenge Top 1000 thread to check your progress for this first week of competition. Not doing the Bondurant Challenge yet? Take a look at the challenge description and rules, and join the competition next month to compete to be the best all-around driver in Forza Motorsport 4. If bragging rights aren’t enough for you, monthly winners will receive some cool Bondurant gear.

The Rivals Runner October results are in, and our congratulations go out to the top ten leaders who all received the full 16 unicorn cars as a prize for their awesome driving skills. The winners are:

2. oCORTo
4. Deck56C
5. BlueShadow95
6. Kevin17600
8. TNT ToyDrift
9. grd2054

Good work, racers. Next scoreboard update will be on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled.

Heavy Metal Affliction Racer Profile Livery Contest and Q&A Session
If you didn’t catch John’s profile of Pirelli World Challenge driver Shea Holbrook in this week’s Heavy Metal Affliction, make sure to check it out and also to look through the forum thread. Her 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe is incredible, and her story is inspiring. Read the article to find out how this up-and-coming driver is making her dreams come true.

We are also hosting a livery contest to recreate Holbrook’s car. The 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe is available in the January Jalopnik Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 4. The contest will end on November 20, so get your design posted in the HMA thread to participate. Winning entries will be chosen by Holbrook and winners will receive an FM4 unicorn car of choice, and their choice of a June-September FM4 DLC pack or October-November Forza Horizon DLC.

Also on November 20 from 7-9 P.M. EST we will be offering a forum Q&A with Shea Holbrook. We will be offering Forza Horizon unicorns to community members whose questions we use. So think of something really interesting to ask the top female racer in the PWC. In addition to being enlightened by Holbrook’s answers you could earn another highly coveted Forza Horizon unicorn for your garage. So post your questions in the HMA thread to be considered.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend!
