Forza Motorsport Week In Review 11-2-12

Brian Ekberg
Friday, November 2, 2012

We are now officially more than a week into the adventure that is Forza Horizon and things haven’t slowed down one bit. Need proof? Well, how about Tuesday’s announcement of the November Bondurant Car Pack , coming to Forza Horizon on Tuesday, Nov. 6? This six-car pack features cars that are bound to get your blood pumping on the open roads of Colorado, including the open-top 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante, the off-road beast that is the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, the legendary 1994 Nissan 240 SX SE drift car, the 2010 BMW M3 GTS, and not one but two Shelby masterpieces – the 2012 Shelby 1000 and the 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C.

The November Bondurant Car Pack is coming this Tuesday and will be available for 400 MS Points. If you’re a Forza Horizon Season Pass owner, you’ve already got the pack coming your way, so strap in and get ready for the fun.

Of course, a new batch of cars to play means some new Forza Horizon Rivals events to try out as well. While we’re keeping some of the Rivals events we launched with, we’re adding a few new events to the mix as well. Stay tuned for John’s edition of Rear View Mirror on Monday for a sneak preview of the new Rivals events that will be going live along with the Car Pack.

Escape the Grid Recap

One Brit, one Audi R8 GT Spyder, and hundreds of miles of European roads to drive. That was the situation for Forza UK community manager Ian Webster during launch week of Forza Horizon. Ian, along with a group of European journalists, took part in the Escape the Grid challenges last week and Ian’s got a full recap of his adventure, along with photographs and videos, that you can check out here . I don’t think Ian’s come down from this trip yet, and who could blame him?

In addition, earlier this week our own Alex Kierstein returned from his Autoweek American Adventure rally—an adventure that began in Colorado Springs, CO and ended up at SEMA in Las Vegas. Between hanging out with fellow contestants and taking part in awesome challenges, Alex has got more than a few stories to tell. I don’t want to spoil it but let’s just say they involve a Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 Black Series Coupe and miles of rocky, treacherous terrain. Alex will have a full report from the Autoweek Adventure next week – so be on the lookout!

Message Center Challenges

Have you tried our Message Center Challenges in Forza Horizon? If not, check your in-game message center! This week, we asked players to tweet to us their time on the Horizon community Rivals event “The Arrival” using the hashtag #thearrival. The response has been overwhelming so far, and we’re sending out unicorn cars to those who took part. We’ll have another Message Center Challenge coming up next week, which I won’t spoil for you; if you’re interested in finding out how to take part keep your eye on the Message Center when you’re online in the game next week.

Here’s a quick tip: While the Horizon Message Center can be overwhelming, especially if you’ve got lots of Horizon-playing friends, the quickest way to find our Message Center Challenges (as well as other important messages from the Forza Community Team) is to head over to the “News Feed” section of Message Center by hitting the RB button twice.

F-150 Raptor VIP Photos

Last week I put out the call for Forza Horizon VIPs to hit me with their best photographs of the black and gold skull variant Ford F-150 Raptor, which was sent to VIPs on Friday. The results were awesome – from menacing looking night shots to hilarious pictures of the Raptor in uncompromising positions on the Carson Golf Course (or simply flying through the air off a huge jump). If you want to see all those Raptors in action, check out the forum thread for last week’s edition of the Week in Review. We’ll be doing another thread next week with cars in the November Bondurant Car Pack, so stay tuned!

Forza Motorsport Bondurant Challenge

In honor of our November Bondurant Car Pack for Forza Horizon, we’ve taken the liberty of renaming Rivals Runner to the Forza Motorsport Bondurant Challenge. This ongoing challenge series will pit the best Forza 4 drivers in the world against one another in a monthly quartet of Rivals Mode challenges across all four driving disciplines – drifting, drag-racing, auto-cross, and hot-lapping. That’s good news. Even better news? We’ve got cool Bondurant gear for each monthly winner (and unicorn cars for the top 10). If you want to learn more, head over to the official announcement story and check out the full rules here .

Horizon Photo Mission Winners – Finley Dam Postcard

I wanted to call out this week’s photo winners for special recognition. In the months leading up to the release of Horizon, I knew that this game would be something special for Forzatographers and the results here are living proof. This week’s Horizon photo mission was to make a “Finley Dam Postcard” – capturing the best possible shot of your favorite car in the Finley Dam area. The stunning winners here represent just a fraction of the incredible entries we receive, making the process of choosing the top three an excruciatingly enjoyable time. So congrats to dakingofthe301, Maciek1125, and striker2 as our inaugural top three and look for another photo mission coming up soon!

Game With Dev Next Week

It’s time for another Game With Devs event! As we did during launch week, we’ll be playing Forza Horizon with the community on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 3-5 p.m. Pacific. As always, we’ll be hanging out with you guys in the community and tearing up the open roads of Colorado in the process. Personally, I’m looking to get some multiplayer free roam on and try to knock out some of those co-op challenges! Who’s with me?

Post your comments in the WIR Thread.

See you all next week!
