Yas Marina and Le Mans Track Footage

As we get closer and closer to the launch of Forza Motorsport 5, more tracks have been confirmed so we thought a little showcase of speed was in order to celebrate and welcome Yas Marina and Le Mans to the ranks.

Take a look at the details and history of each track then watch as the Lotus E21 and Audi R-18 get busy doing their thing on the tracks they have both seen major successes on.

The Lotus E21 has a lap at Yas Marina Circuit

Each of the twenty-one corners of Yas Marina Circuit are unique; adding challenge to this ultra-modern circuit. The facility is housed on a man-made Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Within the bounds of the circuit, drivers travel underneath the Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel as the track twists and turns among the dunes and the yacht-filled marina. Adding further intricacy and challenge, the pit lane exit travels through a swooping tunnel underneath the track. The profound grip the circuit offers can be credited to the Graywacke aggregate shipped from Bayston Hill quarry in Shropshire, England. Each of the five track configurations found in Forza Motorsport 5 will put your driving skills to a test.

What better place to show off the heart-stopping speed of the Lotus E21 than the track where it most recently competed.

2012 Audi #1 Audi Sport Team Joest R18 at Circuit de Sarthe

Since 1923, once a year the public roads and racetrack sections of Le Mans come alive with the roar of race engines for the most revered motorsports event in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It is, bar none, the fastest racetrack on Earth. Driving Le Mans, a driver will be wide-open throttle 85 percent of a lap. The Mulsanne Straight is 3.7 miles long and prototypes hit speeds in excess of 250 miles per hour before two separate chicanes were added in 1990 to comply with FIA rules requiring straights no longer than 1.2 miles. In 2012, the first of these chicanes was renamed as the “Forza Motorsport Chicane”. Made up of 38 turns over a total of 8.46 miles, Le Mans is one of the longest tracks in the world. The Bugatti Circuit is open year round and is host to a bevy of race events including DTM and Moto GP. You will find both circuits in Forza Motorsport 5, as well as the classic layout with the chicanes removed.

Audi’s dominance in endurance racing is due to many factors cutting edge technology, top drivers, and an experienced team. The outright speed of Le Mans puts all competitors to the toughest mechanical and physical test in racing. Here’s the R18 doing what it does best in the race it was born to run:
