Although it may not be the very first aspect of the game to grip your senses, audio is a crucial part of Forza Motorsport 2's simulation equation. The audio characteristics of each car in the game remains a fine point of detail you pick up after hours, days, weeks spent on the edge of grip in the world of Forza Motorsport. For the development of Forza Motorsport 2, we go through pains to record hundreds of cars to get that aspect of the game just right. In an effort to share with you some insight into how all of this game development voodoo works, we're pulling together a recurring series of features called the Turn 10 Dyno Spotlight that looks at a sampling of the most interesting cars we've gotten to record over the past year of Forza Motorsport 2 development.

Our first Dyno Spotlight article of 2007 takes a look at an exceptional '94 Toyota Supra Turbo (JZA80 frame), tuned to excel on the track. When we looked at the roster of Toyota cars to include in Forza Motorsport 2, the late great JZA80 body Supra (1993-2002) was a no-brainer. As the fourth generation Supra, Toyota completely rewrote the books on the line's Celica-derived past and created a classic sports car platform with which they continued to refine until the model was discontinued in 2002.

Although Toyota enthusiasts adore the Supra for many reasons, some most obvious virtues were found in its twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE engine that read 276 bhp on paper but felt more like 320 bhp on asphalt. Another reason why tuners loved the JZA80 Supra and the 2JZ-GTE engine combo is the durability of the stock platform to withstand ridiculous amounts of added power. It's not uncommon to see Supra owners who have essentially turned their cars into 500+ hp road beasts.

Like the '94 Supra Turbo we're spotlighting this time for our dyno show-and-tell, owner Christopher Wick's obsession with his ride began with an '85 Celica. In the following pages, Wick fills us in on life with his Supra, while Turn 10's audio coordinator Mark Price discuss both the car and the audio session in which we sampled the Supra's engine sound for use in Forza Motorsport 2.

And like all previous Dyno Spotlight articles, we put your car knowledge (and your ears) to the test with an audio quiz. Are you hardcore enough? Can you identify which of the four cars is Christopher Wick's 1994 Supra Turbo?

Enjoy!
