Feeling the February Pack Love

So, how about that February American Le Mans Series Pack, huh? I wasn't exaggerating when I said this is our best DLC pack yet. Between high-powered race machines like the 2011 #2 Audi Sport North America R18 TDI and the 1991 Mazda #55 Team Mazdaspeed 787B as well as modified heavyweights like the 2010 Dodge Quinton "Rampage" Jackson Challenger SRT8 or the 2011 Bentley Platinum Motorsports Continental GT, this DLC pack is stacked from stem to stern. And let’s not forget gems like the 1986 #2 Audi Sport quattro S1, the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra R and, well, you get the idea…

Along with the new cars, we’ve also got a new crop of Rivals Mode events. For example, to coincide with this week’s kickoff of winter testing for the American Le Mans Series at Sebring, we’ve got our "28 Days of Sebring" community Rivals Mode event. Take the Audi R18 from the February ALMS Pack onto Sebring and experience your own version of winter testing as you dodge and weave your way through slower traffic. Each week, 100 random winners will win a unicorn car only available from Turn 10!

March VIP Event Poll Update

The votes are in and March’s inaugural VIP Rivals Mode event will feature the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera. What began as a fairly even faceoff between the Lambo and the 2011 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport eventually ended up with the Italian supercar winning by a substantial margin. (Of course, the car I voted for--the 2010 Noble M600--managed a distant fourth place. I’m not bitter.)

So, with the car decided, we move on now to the type of event that Forza 4 VIPs will be driving in their LP570-4s. Will it be a straight time trial? An autocross event? Maybe even a drag race? It’s up to you! You don’t have to be a VIP to vote; just head on over to the poll on our official Forza Motorsport Facebook page and let your voice be heard! We’ll update you next week!

Community Bounty Hunter Update

I asked Fred to jump in with an update on the Community Bounty Hunter program he’s been running in the forums. Take it away Fred!

The deadline for submissions has passed and now it’s time for some hot-lapping war. There were many great entries in the livery contest that we could not just pick one winner. This first month of Community Bounty Hunter will feature two winners from the livery contest. The first participant in the Bounty Hunter rivals event will be the race/replica specialist, ARMIPOTENT ADAM. Adam will be putting the CommunityBounty Hunter Mazda Furai he created on the line against the community all week in the Union Jack Time ATTACK Rivals Mode event. The community will have until February 17th at 8 a.m. PST to take down ARMIPOTENT ADAM’s time. At the end of the contest, all drivers who have beaten Adam's time will be awarded his Bounty Hunter car. The second winner of the livery contest was sinnermac, who will be putting his creation on the line later in the month, check back for more details on this event.

The search for the next community bounty has already begun with the Tuning GarageDatabase. If you have a tuning garage and you wish to participate, you can submit your entry to the official thread for a chance to take on the community in a future Rivals Mode event.

I Beat Rampage

Yes, you read that headline right. I beat Rampage Jackson. Beat him down. And you’ve got a chance to do the same in our February King of the Track challenge. The UFC fighter and Hollywood star is your target this month and his time (1:51.674 as of this writing) on Laguna Seca is quite beatable. if you ask me. So, get your licks in now, because there’s no telling when Jackson will get back in the game and set a new and improved time. There’s more on the line than the pride of beating one of the world’s most dangerous men, too: All participants can earn a 2011 #2 Audi Sport North America R18 TDI from the February American Le Mans Series Pack (ALMS Pack required to redeem). Everyone who beats Rampage’s time will win a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe unicorn car with a custom Rampage Jackson livery. (Incidentally, I’ve seen rough versions of the Rampage livery that Fred is working on and it is sweet indeed.)

Finally, the overall winner will take home a pair of UFC fight gloves signed by Rampage himself! Good luck to all!

Hyundai Challenge Update

The Hyundai Championship event has moved into its second week! This week, players will be running a time trial event on Hockenheim’s National Circuit. Like last week, there are some familiar names at the top of the leaderboards in Week 2, including JerseyBoySS, GENERAL BEARD 1, Uncle Al 469, and AJ The Boy. Next week, we’ll be changing the event up again, adding a new event type to keep competitors on their toes. Stay tuned!

More Awards for Forza 4!

A few awards-related updates for this week. Forza Motorsport 4 has been nominated by the Game Audio Network Guild (GANG) for the "Sound Design of the Year" award. We are up against some esteemed competition, including Portal 2, Gears of War 3, and NCAA Football 12. The 10th annual GANG Awards winners will be announced on March 8 during the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Fingers crossed!

In addition, we learned on Thursday night that Forza Motorsport 4 won "Racing Game of the Year" at the 15th annual Interactive Achievement Awards at DICE 2012 in Las Vegas! You can watch video replay of the awards show here and see the full list of AIAS winners here.

Finally, astute Week in Review readers will remember the VGA Award that Forza 4 picked up as “Best Driving Game of 2010”. This week our monkey-themed VGA arrived and took its place in the ever-growing Turn 10 trophy case. Take a look:

A couple of quick notes before I sign off for the week.

- Top Gear USA begins its next season on the History Channel on Tuesday, February 14 at 9/8 Central. There will be cars, there will be Tanner, Rutledge, and Adam. There will be hijinks. Don't miss it.

- Check out this strange and oddly compelling music video by someone named Gionata, which recreates the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans race with slot cars. At times weird, at times creepy, and at times awesome. But mostly all three:

Have a great weekend everyone!
