King of the Track -- January

Think you have what it takes to be the King of the Track? Now you’ll have your chance as we kick off our Forza Motorsport 4 King of the Track challenge series. Beginning today, we’ll be featuring monthly Rivals Mode challenges in Forza 4 pitting you against a host of celebrities, to see if you’ve got what it takes to be the best. Here’s how the contest works:

Each month, you’ll need to run our monthly King of the Track Rivals Mode challenge, featuring the pre-determined car and track combination. To find the King of the Track challenge, simply navigate to “Rivals Mode” within Forza 4 and go to the “Community Monthly” channel. The monthly King of the Track challenge will be found in this channel. As with all Rivals Mode challenges, you can run as many times as you like in order to set your fastest time. 

All participants will receive an in-game car for participating and, if you beat the posted time by the celebrity participant, you’ll win a rare unicorn car. The player with the overall best time will also win a special grand prize as well. 

For the inaugural event in January, you’ll be taking on MLB pitcher C. J. Wilson. Wilson, recently signed by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, played in the MLB All-Star Game in 2011 during his final season with the Texas Rangers. Wilson is also an avid racer, owner of the CJ Wilson Racing Team, which fields cars in the Grand Am and Mazda MX5 Cup series.

If you want to track how you compare to CJ in the event, search for his Gamertag--Cjwilson33--in the Rivals Mode event. Once CJ has posted his time, we'll update this story with the time you need to beat. [UPDATE: As of 1/8/11, CJ's posted time is 1:13.98. You can keep track of CJ's time on the King of the Track leaderboard by checking out the King of the Track Facebook app.]

All participants in the January King of the Track challenge will win a 2012 Pagani Huayra with a unique livery (purchase of the January Jalopnik Pack required to redeem). If you beat CJ’s posted time, you will win a 2003 Ferrari Challenge Stradale unicorn car.

The overall top time of the contest (which ends on midnight on January 31), will win a memorabilia pack signed by CJ Wilson (note that the grand prize is only available to US residents). Good luck to all participants!

COMMON TERMS USED IN THESE RULES: 

These are the official rules that govern how the Microsoft Forza King of the Track contest promotion will operate (“Contest”). 

In these rules, “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to Microsoft Corporation, the sponsor of this Contest.  “You” refers to an eligible Contest entrant.   

CONTEST DESCRIPTION:   

This is a skill-based Contest.  The object of this Contest is to achieve the fastest online time in the King of the Track “Rivals Mode” challenge found in the Xbox 360 game “Forza Motorsport 4”.    In addition, in-game items will be offered to participants that meet the criteria described below.   

WHAT ARE THE START AND END DATES?   

This Contest starts at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on January 3, 2012, and ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on February 29, 2012 (“Entry Period”).  The Entry Period is split into two periods as follows:  

Prize Period 1: 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on January 3, 2012 – 11:59 p.m. PT on January 31, 2012 

Prize Period 2: 12:01 a.m. PT on February 1, 2012 - 11:59 p.m. PT on February 29, 2012. 

CAN I ENTER? 

You are eligible to enter this Contest if you meet the following requirements at time entry: 

You are a legal resident of the 50 United States or District of Columbia (void in MD and VT), and are 18 years of age or older; and 

You are NOT an employee of Microsoft Corporation or an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary; and 

You are NOT involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Contest; and 

You are NOT an immediate family (parent, sibling, spouse, child) or household member of a Microsoft employee, an employee of a Microsoft subsidiary, or a person involved in any part of the administration and execution of this Contest. 

This Contest is void outside the geographic area described above and wherever else prohibited by law.  

HOW DO I ENTER? 

To enter you must be an Xbox LIVE Gold member in good standing, have access to an Xbox 360 console, and  have access to the Xbox 360 game title “Forza Motorsport 4.  Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you may enter the Contest when you log into the Xbox LIVE service and play the “Forza 4 Rivals” Using the 2007 Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe on Road Atlanta or the 2009 Dodge Challenger ST8 on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca game during one or both Prize Periods.   

You may play the game as many times as necessary during each Prize Period to achieve your fastest time.  Scores will be posted on the Xbox Live Forza 4 leaderboard.   

At the close of each Prize Period, the player with the highest score will win prizes described below.   

We are not responsible for that we do not receive for any reason, or for entries that we receive but are not decipherable for any reason.  

We will automatically disqualify: 

Any incomplete or illegible entry; and 

Any entries that we receive from you that are in excess of the entry limit described above. 

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. You understand that you are providing your information to the Sponsor and not to Facebook. The information you provide will only be used for administering the Promotion and to contact you if you are a winner. 

PRIZES 

Two Grand Prizes, one awarded per Prize Period:   

Prize Period 1:  An autographed CJ Wilson Racing Jacket  

Prize Period 2: An Autographed Quinton “Rampage” Jackson UFC Official Fight Glove 

 Approximate Retail Value (ARV) $100.00 ea. 

The total Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of all prizes $200 

If you are a potential winner, we will notify you by sending a message to the e-mail address, the phone number, or mailing address (if any) provided at time of entry within seven (7) days following completion of judging.  If the notification that we send is returned as undeliverable, or you are otherwise unreachable for any reason, we may award to a runner-up. 

If there is a dispute as to who is the potential winner, we will consider the potential winner to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address used to enter the Contest. If you are a potential winner, we may require you to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability/Publicity Release and a W-9 tax form or W-8 BEN tax form within 10 days of notification. If you are a potential winner and you are 18 or older, but are considered a minor in your place of legal residence, we may require your parent or legal guardian to sign all required forms on your behalf.  If you do not complete the required forms as instructed and/or return the required forms within the time period listed on the winner notification message, we may disqualify you and select a runner-up. 

If you are confirmed as a winner of this Contest:  

• You may not exchange your prize for cash or any other merchandise or services.  However, if for any reason an advertised prize is unavailable, we reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value; and 

• You may not designate someone else as the winner.  If you are unable or unwilling to accept your prize, we may award it to a runner up; and 

• If you accept a prize, you will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize; and 

• If you are otherwise eligible for this Contest, but are considered a minor in your place of residence, we may award the prize to your parent/legal guardian on your behalf; and 

• Unless otherwise noted, all prizes are subject to their manufacturer’s warranty and / or terms and conditions.   

We will only award one prize and 2 participation gifts per person. 

WHAT OTHER CONDITIONS AM I AGREEING TO BY ENTERING? 

By entering this Contest you agree:  

To abide by these Official Rules; and 

To release and hold harmless Microsoft and its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Contest, or any prize won; and 

That Microsoft’s decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Contest; and 

That, by accepting a prize, Microsoft may use of your proper name and state of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Contest, without payment or compensation to you, except where prohibited by law. 

WHAT LAWS GOVERN THE WAY THIS CONTEST IS EXECUTED AND ADMINISTRATED? 

This Contest will be governed by the laws of the State of Washington, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts of the State of Washington for any disputes arising out of this Contest.    

WHAT IF SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THE CONTEST CAN’T RUN AS PLANNED? 

If someone cheats, or a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled, (also referred to as force majeure) affects the fairness and / or integrity of this Contest, we reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Contest.  This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error. If a solution cannot be found to restore the integrity of the Contest, we reserve the right to select winners from among all eligible entries received before we had to cancel, change or suspend the Contest.  

If you attempt to compromise the integrity or the legitimate operation of this Contest by hacking or by cheating or committing fraud in ANY way, we may seek damages from you to the fullest extent permitted by law.  Further, we may ban you from participating in any of our future Contest, so please play fairly.

If you send an email to promotions@roundhouseagency.com within 30 days of February 29, 2012, we will provide you with a list of winners that receive a prize worth $25.00 or more.
