Forza Motorsport 4: Week in Review 8/3/12

Wow, summer in Seattle, so long as you love gray skies, mild
weather and rain, we have got it all. It’s actually been pretty nice this
week so I shouldn’t complain, but I probably will anyway.
You gotta love Forza 4 because you can tear up the track;
blow your friends doors in Rivals mode, or test and tune, rain or shine.
With this past Tuesday's announcement of the cars in the August Playseat Car Pack
we all have something to dream about and drool over until the pack's release next
Tuesday August 7.
If you haven’t already, check out the trailer that provides
a glimpse into what can be yours for less than the cost of lunch at a fast-food
joint. The value of ten sweet cars to add to your Forza 4 garage is better than
a cholesterol and fat-enhanced, bag of gut bomb anytime. At least in the opinion
of this Forza loving writer.
What’s your favorite car in August Playseat Car Pack? Mine
is the 1962 Lincoln Continental. I’ve always wanted one but haven’t found the
right waterfront property with a big enough dock. Tell us your favorites and
why in the WIR thread.
If you haven’t noticed yet, it’s your beloved unicorn saint,
Johniwanna filling in for Mechberg. Our fearless leader is very recently, as in yesterday
afternoon, was off to the hospital to welcome his second child, Baby Mech, into the world. Congratulations to
the now father of two, who will be taking a little time to, you know, be a new
daddy.
And in other news….
August Rivals and Contests
Just in time for the August Playseat Car Pack we will be
launching a new group of rivals events featuring several of the cars from the
pack including the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302. There will also be
a couple treats in the form of contests to participate in. I don’t have all the
details yet but here is the skinny to whet your appetite for competition.
Unicorns are great, but how about a chance to win a Forza
Motorsport 4 Playseat or cool Playseat hats and t-shirts? Battle your way to
the top of the leaderboards in a yet to be revealed rivals mode in the 2013 Lexus GS350 F Sport (available for FREE
in the August Playseat Car Pack) in cockpit view. While all players are welcome to set times, only players in U.S., U.K., France, Germany, and Spain are eligible to win prizes in this event. Stay tuned to FM.net for all
the details.
Here is a video of the Playseat guy giving a tour of the
Limited Edition Forza Motorsport 4 Playseat. Man, that thing is sweet!
A new Community
Bounty will be announced on Tuesday as well. Here are the latest rivals modes
descriptions.
Race to Colorado
Who will be the fastest person to make it to the Horizon Festival in October?
The scenic backdrop of New Hampshire is your setting as you take your
Challenger 392, complete with a brand new
Horizon livery, on a journey that will land you in the heart of Colorado in
Forza Horizon. Get your very own Dodge Challenger 392 in Forza Motorsport 4 by
pre-ordering Forza Horizon at a participating retailer. For more information
about Forza Horizon pre-orders, click here.
Who's the Boss?
You have raced the 'Original Boss' around Laguna Seca previously, now you will
get to test how the latest incarnation of this legendary muscle car can handle
the Corkscrew. The August Playseat Car Pack is required to participate in this
event.

Made for
Mech-Autocross
Unfortunately, “Made for Mech” is going to be sidelined
temporarily. I know Brian had picked some winners for last week’s Autocross
tune request. He was just about to share the winners with me so I could gift
unicorns and announce their greatness to the world when his PC decided it was
time for a valued Windows Update. Sorry tune donors, but getting his wife to
the hospital took precedence (as I’m sure you can understand). Winners will be
announced in next week’s WIR or sooner if possible. For fun if you want suggest
what the next event for “Made for Mech” should be in the WIR thread, go for it!

Press Here at Turn 10
The interest in Forza Horizon is climbing and we had a visit
from some press this week. Not only did they get a sneak peak at the next
chapter in the Forza series, but we treated them to a special dyno session, and
even lined up some of the choice cars owned by the folks here at Turn 10. Stay
tuned for full coverage of the dyno session, and keep your eyes out for an gaming
website story about their visit to our hallowed halls.
Johniwanna Want Ads
We kicked off the Johniwanna
Want Ads last week. This is a forum thread for the community to post upcoming
or ongoing events that they would like to see covered in FM.net news articles such as
Rear View Mirror. The list is up
to three pages already. Be sure to post as many details of your event and
organize the details so they are easy to digest. The best
represented and most interesting events will get some FM.net spotlight.
Turn 10 Track Day-Debut
of the Forza Motorsport Viper GTS-R
Don’t miss the next race in the American Le Mans Series in
Mid-Ohio. The city has donated itself to racing for the weekend and we will be
hosting another Turn 10 Track Day. Come hang out with us in the chat room
on our Facebook page. We will be giving out August DLC codes, that’s before
they are released folks. We will also be sharing our excitement and cheering on
the new Forza
Motorsport SRT Viper GTS-R.
Great Car Lover Movie
Quotes
Earlier this week Fred and I were discussing and laughing
about some great quotes from Smoky and the Bandit then later a friend of mine
posted this memorable quote from Dazed and Confused, one of the my favorite "right of passage" movies of all time:
“Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all
right. We got 4:11 Positraction out back, 750 double-pumper, Edelbrock intake,
bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin'
some ...muscle.”
What is your favorite automotive themed movie quote? Post
about it in the WIR thread. We will give out some unicorns to
the most memorable quotes.
One of the Coolest
Tours of Paris
In 1976 a gentleman named Claude Lelouch drove around Paris
like a madman and called it a movie. It was awesome and I thought I would share
it. Upon finishing his run in the early morning hours, he was promptly arrested, however the "movie" got him the recognition he was
looking for. The car driven is a Mercedes Benz 450 6.9 SEL and the sound is
from his Ferrari 275 GTB.
That’s it for this week folks!
