As always, we’ve got a new batch of Rivals Mode events arriving on Tuesday along with the July Car Pack. Here’s the rundown of events, which will be found in the “Community Monthly” section of Rivals Mode:
- Hometown Hero -- McLaren has stepped back into the world of GT sports car racing with the 2011 McLaren #59 McLaren GT MP4-12C GT3. The MP4-12C GT3 comes home in this Rivals event to take on the challenges of Silverstone GP. The July Car Pack will be required to participate in this event.
- 944 Spec Racing -- Upgrade your 944 to the top of C-Class then take to the track at Sedona to put down your fastest lap.
- Don't Be Fuelish -- The entrance of Japanese automakers to the American market, combined with the energy crisis of the 1970s, forced the American auto industry to re-think its strategy by building smaller vehicles that were more fuel efficient. Get behind the wheel of one of these 'little giants' to see which is the best small compact of the disco era.
- Hart Like a Wheel -- C.J. Hart came up with the idea in 1950 to take the non-sanctioned, usually illegal drag races from the dry lake beds to the drag strips we know today. Venture back to those first early days in your choice of 1950s car to challenge your rivals on the drag strip.
- Mercedes-Arena -- One of the most challenging sections at Nürburgring GP meets its namesake in this Rivals event as you take to the track in your favorite A-Class Mercedes-Benz.
- Raise the Ruf -- Started as a service garage in 1939, Ruf has become a highly regarded German Automobile manufacturer known for performance enhancements, automobile refinements, and classic car restorations. The Autocross track at Laguna Seca serves as a perfect testing ground to see how well these Ruf creations perform.

Summer Stadium Reminder
If you are a European Forza fan, I hope you have had a chance to try out the Xbox Summer Stadium Forza 4 Tournament. This event is part of the larger Xbox Summer Stadium celebration happening over the summer. The qualifying round event opened up last Friday and will be available for one week more, after which we’ll be taking qualifiers and putting them into a challenging gauntlet of Rivals Mode events over the coming weeks, with players competing to win an Xbox Kinect Bundle, Xbox 360 Chrome Controller and Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel, a Samsung 46” 3D TV, and a Samsung Home Theater System. The full terms and conditions (along with a list of prize-eligible countries) can be found here. Good luck to all the players!
Made for Mech Returns!
While Forza fans in Europe will be competing in the Forza 4 Summer Stadium for fabulous prizes, the rest of you can win something else admittedly more lame: the pride in helping your humble* and handsome** Community Manager out with a sweet tune (and a possible unicorn car reward)! That’s right, “Made for Mech” has returned! After more than a month hiatus, the incredibly popular*** and very worthwhile**** community tuning event is back.
The goal here is to get the Forza tuners out there to create the “ideal” tune for a particular Rivals Mode event. Here’s how it works:
For each edition of “Made for Mech” I pick a particular event in Forza 4's Rivals Mode, choose a car, and then set a time in that event. All Forza 4 players are then encouraged to create a tune for that particular car for that Rivals Mode event and post it on the Forza storefront. Over the course of the week, I download and try as many tunes as I can and I’ll award a random unicorn gift to any creator whose tune I like or whose tune improves my standing on the leaderboards. Easy, and fun, and hopefully worth your time.

So, for this week’s Made for Mech, we’ll be dipping into the new events available since the launch of the Porsche Expansion Pack.
Event: 911 Experience (found in the "Open Time Attack" Rivals Mode channel)
Car: 2004 Porsche 911 GT3
Posted Time: 2:36.897
If you want in on the action, post a tune for the GT3 on the Forza Motorsport 4 storefront with the descriptor MECHBERG GT3. Over the coming week, I’ll be downloading as many tunes as I can and awarding unicorns to my favorites. You can also follow the action on the official “Made for Mech” forum thread to keep up with the very latest. Good luck to everyone!
I’m not the only Turn 10er (Turn 10-ite? Turn 10ian?) putting my Forza reputation on the line this week. Our Community Bounty is Christopher aka MightyMrDigital who will be taking on all comers in the “Once Bitten” Community Monthly Rivals Mode event. He’s a diehard Seattle sports fan and, as a result, the ante has been raised considerably on the forums. As our own phredesign declared, Chris is going to have to wear a James Harden--of Oklahoma City Thunder fame--beard if 5,000 people end up ahead of him on the “Once Bitten” leaderboard. While that should be enough motivation for anyone, when you toss in a contest for the ultimate OKC-liveried car, you’ve got another classic Forza community bounty event in the making.
While I’m hoping Christopher does well, there’s a part of me that hopes the community prevails here. After all, if they can get Kenan to do this:
… there’s no telling how awesome Christopher will look in a Harden beard.
Before we move off the topic, here’s a fun video from SatNiteEduardo “encouraging” Christopher in his efforts:
Pirelli North America on Facebook
A few months back, we gave Forza fans a look behind the curtain at the Forza Motorsport series’ relationship with tire manufacturer Pirelli in the making of Forza Motorsport 4 (check out the Making Of Forza Motorsport 4 video documentary to see more). If you’re looking for more information on Pirelli or just want to follow their latest happenings, be sure and follow the official Pirelli North America Facebook page. Motorsports trivia, updates on the latest Pirelli activities and, by the looks of things, some awesome photography combine to make this a worthwhile addition to your Facebook feed. Check it out!
Celebrate Canada Day, Forza 4-style
The Fourth of July is a big holiday next week for us in the U.S. and Sunday is Canada Day for our neighbors up north. In celebration of Canada’s upcoming 145th birthday, Forza community members mopar4t4 has created a set of Canada Day liveries for the following cars:
• 1971 AMC Javelin
• Chrysler 300
• 2009 Dodge Challenger
• 2006 Dodge Charger
• 2012 Dodge Charger
• 2010 Chevrolet Camaro
• 1973 Ford Pinto
Mopar will be making these liveries available for free in the Forza 4 storefront and will be putting one of each liveried and tuned cars up for an 8-hour auction on the Forza 4 Auction House on Sunday. Look for the cars and the liveries and, for all our Forza fans in the Great White North, Happy Canada Day!
Helmet Cam at Le Mans
Here’s an incredibly awesome video we dug up earlier this week: an in-car view of the #73 Corvette Racing ZR1 driven by Jordan Taylor, tackling Le Mans at night during the practice session at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This needs to be seen to be believed:
Vipers + Bacon = The Ultimate Forza Story
Finally, I’ll leave you with this, undoubtedly the most important automotive story of the year. Or, at least, the most relevant Forza Motorsport community story of the year. It’s got Vipers, it’s got bacon… well, see for yourself:
With Independence Day coming up next week here in the States, it is stories like this one that make me proud to be an American. See you next week!
*True, he is very humble
