Forza Horizon is Here!
At the risk of repeating the headline (and yelling a lot): Forza Horizon is here! Forza Horizon is here! FORZA HORIZON IS HERE! That’s right, folks, the critically acclaimed new entry in the Forza universe has arrived in U.S. retail stores, and will be hitting stores worldwide later this week.
To celebrate the game’s release, we’ve got the latest video in our “Forza Horizon – Behind the Scenes” series. In this entry, we bring you behind the curtain of the Horizon Festival itself, talk with the man behind the awesome Horizon soundtrack (BBC Radio DJ Rob da Bank) and give you a glimpse at the competitive online aspects of Forza Horizon – you know, the stuff that’s going to keep you coming back for months to come! Without further ado, here it is:
With many of you now playing Horizon – and many more joining the party on Friday – now’s a perfect time to catch you up on everything we’ve got going on in-game for launch. Here’s the rundown:
Game With Turn 10
We’ve got not one but two Forza Horizon Game With Devs events planned this week. The first is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 24, and will be held from 1-3 p.m. Pacific. If you’re not in the U.S., don’t worry, we’ve got you covered as well. Our second GWD event will be held on Friday, Oct. 26 from 1-3 p.m. Pacific.
As always we’ll be hanging out with Forza fans on our official Facebook GWD app, chatting with you in between games, and giving away the occasional prizes (unicorn cars, DLC codes, and so on!) Finally, if you miss these two events, fear not! We’ll be running plenty of GWD events both for Forza Horizon and for Forza Motorsport 4 in the coming weeks.
Even if you’re away from a Web browser, you can still stay up to date with the latest Forza Horizon news by checking the in-game message center. There you’ll find new offers, updates on contests and events, in-game challenges to complete, links to awesome Forza content on FM.net and elsewhere, and more.
It wouldn’t be the launch of a new Forza game without some new Rivals events to check out, right? When you aren’t tearing around the open roads of Colorado with friends or looking to dethrone Darius Flynt as the top Horizon Festival driver, check out the Community Rivals events. Each month we’ll be uploading a new set of Rivals events for you to enjoy, featuring awesome car and track combinations, including events that will be available for that month’s DLC car pack.
To try out our custom-created events, head over to “Race Central” at the Horizon Festival, go to “Rivals”, and then click the “Monthly Rivals” channel.
Here’s a quick peek at our first crop of Rivals events:
You Mad Bro?
In the words of its creator, the idea behind the Gumpert Apollo Enraged is "PURE GERMAN SPEED." Its ALL CAPS attitude goes hand-in-hand with its barely legal 780 hp output. The 2012 Gumpert Apollo Enraged from the Month One Car Pack is needed to participate in this event.
It’s dawn at the Horizon Festival and these smaller-than-average rides will prove that you do not need to be going 100 mph to enjoy the ride. Upgrades are allowed.
The Speed of Fear
Experience the knife-edge thrill of driving the 2012 Ultima GTR as you rocket out of the town of Beaumont and fearlessly speed through the rocky valley beyond.
The Horizon Festival comes alive at night with music, rides, fireworks, and the roar of your Volkswagen Corrado. Hurry, the Festival awaits! Upgrades are allowed.
Parks and Recreation
The streets of Carson have been blocked off for this event as you cruise through town and into the park. Carefully maneuver your car through the narrow walkways usually meant for foot traffic. Upgrades are allowed.
Test these AWD cars on a mix-surfaced track with beautiful scenic views of Red Rock. Upgrades are allowed.
The hot-hatch has officially arrived at the Horizon Festival thanks to this Rivals event at the old steel mill. Only one question remains: Can you handle your ride after catching some air?
“Play and Win” Incentives: Players who purchase and play “Forza Horizon” during the first week of release will receive a free gift car – the 2010 Saleen S5S Raptor; a unicorn car typically only available from the “Forza Horizon” community team.
